Sapushpa Expressions (Pvt) Ltd is a Sri Lankan independent film production company founded in 2007 by award-winning filmmaker Sanjeewa Pushpakumara. Dedicated to bold, socially engaged storytelling, the company produces fiction features, experimental works, documentaries, and short films, often in collaboration with international partners.
Its acclaimed productions include Flying Fish (2011, co-produced with The Netherlands), Burning Birds (2016, co-produced with France, The Netherlands, and Qatar), and Peacock Lament (2022, co-produced with Pilgrims Films, Italy). Currently in development is Amma (2025).
The company is actively engaged in film and content distribution, as well as supporting international film and
other audiovisual productions in Sri Lanka.
Alongside filmmaking, Sapushpa Expressions promotes film culture in Sri Lanka through academic and training initiatives, nurturing a new generation of filmmakers while bringing Sri Lankan stories to the global stage.

Film distribution and Content Marketing
Sapushpa Expressions is actively involved in international film distribution and content marketing in Sri Lanka.
In collaboration with Savoy Cinemas (formerly EAP Cinemas) and Ashwani Sharma’s Impact Films in India, the
company released its first film the Academy Award- and Cannes-winning film Bong Joon Ho’S Parasite in Sri
Lanka in 2019.
